Ecto 1 model with lights6/22/2023 ![]() Most importantly, I’m excited to play the game with my daughter, who games exclusively on the Switch. The game will feel very familiar on Switch as on other platforms, and it’s a high-quality port. IllFonice vice president of technology Chance Lyon said today: “As a gamer, I wanted this to be something I would be proud and excited to play. Whether haunting or hunting, the game is easy to learn and fun to master! Those already playing will be excited to hear that this story will be expanded in the Ecto Edition coming later this year. Most importantly, the more you play, the more the story will unfold (with cutscenes). Ecto-1 Light kit for the 1/25 Scale Ghostbusters kits from Polar Lights and AMT by TENACONTROLS -Ecto-1 Light kit for the 1/25. This title not only allows players to enjoy the game solo or with up to four friends, but also features an online and offline single-player mode available in the form of AI-assisted play. This asymmetrical game of hide and seek is a four-versus-one setup where players will either play as part of a team of new Ghostbusters or a Ghost. Find out for yourself from Adam Savage's detailed review by hitting the play button below. In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore open the Firehouse to you and the next generation of Ghostbusters. But you don't have to take my word for it. The company is also releasing an "Afterlife" version with barn-found-style weathering in March 2023, but pre-order slots appear to have been sold out at most online retailers (at almost $2,000 a pop).Īll told, while it's notably more expensive than the average plastic scale model car, the Blitzway Ecto-1 is arguably the most detailed and intricate Ghostbusters-related miniature to date. And prices are going crazy on eBay right now, starting at around $3,700 and going as high as $5,000. Currently out of stock almost everywhere (I'm assuming Blitzway made only a few of them), the Ecto-1 was unveiled with a $2,999.99 sticker. And details like the fully functional gurney that fits in the back and the complex lighting system make up for it.īut as you might have already guessed, this scale model is anything but cheap. The engine isn't as detailed as you'd expect given the size (I've seen nicer details in 1:18th scale), but it's not a big deal assuming it's going on display with the hood closed. Sure, the Blitzway Ecto-1 is not entirely perfect. I know what you're thinking, Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" theme song is the first thing I'd play as well. But get this: the model can also play mp3s via USB and micro SD cards. The siren sound effects make everything that much more realistic and fun. Overall, it includes no fewer than 45 LED light-up functions inside and out, plus rotating emergency lights with two motors. ![]() The control panel in the back also lights up. Skill Level 1, ages 8+, over 50 pieces, no cement and no paint required. That's right, while most big-scale models come with opening doors, hood, and trunk, this one also features LED lighting.Īnd it's not just the headlamps, taillights, and emergency roof lights that come to life when the batteries go in. Description Specifications Ghostbusters Ecto 1 Model Kit: Polar Lights announces the Ghostbusters Ecto 1 snap together model kit (assembly required). Decal sheet measures 2 x 4 inches and comes with a fully illustrated color placement instructions. ![]() While it's not a kit that you need to paint put together, the Ecto-1 does require some assembly, especially when it comes to roof-mounted accessories and wiring. 299.99 - 314.99 We know how much you love the Ecto-1, so we knew we had to make something extra special for the amazing LEGO® Creator Ecto-1. Description From JTGraphics comes this sheet of decals for detailing your polar Lights Ecto 1 or AMT Ecto 1-A model kits. That's because, on top of doing a great job at replicating the Cadillac Miller-Meteor's shape and details, Blitzway included all the accessories that transform the ambulance into a ghost-hunting machine. Put this massive Ecto-1 in the appropriate setup and it could look like the real thing on camera. Of course, size isn't everything when it comes to scale models, but this creation is as detailed and accurate as they get. ![]() This thing is only six times smaller than the real deal and a whopping 45.7 inches (117 cm) long. But none of them are as spectacular as the 1/6th scale replica from Blitzway. There's a nicely detailed 1:18 version from Hot Wheels, pocket-sized editions from various companies, and even an 18-inch-long (46-cm) LEGO to have fun with. Thankfully, enthusiasts have plenty of scale model replicas to choose from. ![]()

Better blocker ghosted or ad blocker6/22/2023 ![]() With clear market dominance, it may take the view that it can afford to scale back the browser’s ad-blocking potential with a view to maximising ad revenues. ![]() In the space of a decade, Chrome has managed to get almost two thirds of the worldwide browser market share. But at the same time, Google still has its primary business to focus on: namely, generating ad revenue. When you’re choosing a browser to use, the ability to customise your experience with effective blocking and filtering extensions offers an attractive draw. The potential business benefits to Google from this move are hard to ignore. far too insignificant to have any noticeable impact on the user experience. This found that median decision time per-request is actually in the sub-millisecond region: i.e. One study, published on, analysed the performance of some of the most popular ad-blocking extensions, including uBlock Origin, Adblock Plus and Ghostery. As uBlock Origin author Raymond Hill pointed out, if users are experiencing performance lag, it’s much more likely to be down to pages bloated with trackers than the presence of content-blocking extensions. These arguments have been greeted with some scepticism. With declarativeNetRequest, the extension lets the browser make the decision itself, which (theoretically at least) results in a faster connection. Currently, when a content filtering extension uses the webRequest API, Chrome basically refers the network connection request to the extension and waits for its decision on whether that connection should be allowed or blocked. The company has been especially keen to stress the likely impact of the change on browser performance. Google states that its changes are always driven by the motivation of increasing the security, privacy and performance of Chrome extensions.Īccording to Google software engineer, Devlin Cronin, “It is not, nor has it ever been, our goal to prevent or break content blocking”. All other users will have to rely on declarativeNetRequest as the primary content blocking API. Now it seems that if you’re a paying enterprise Chrome user, you will still be able to rely on the content-blocking capabilities of webRequest. The argument is that fewer rules would mean a much less comprehensive blocking capability.įast forward to the end of May and there was some partial backtracking on the part of Google. The trouble is that most ad blockers filter content by relying on vast, crowdsourced blacklisting rulesets, which tend to require way more than the declarativeNetRequest 30,000 rule limit. Under declarativeNetRequest, Chrome will basically decide whether to block content based on a ruleset limited to 30,000 individual rules. One change (announced in January) caused particular consternation among developers: for content blocking, Google now wants extensions to use a different API, declarativeNetRequest. Last year, Google started hinting at some of the changes that were in the pipeline as part of its upcoming revised rules for the extensions platform (Manifest V3). ads, pop-up videos and unsafe sites) before this content even reaches the browser. Out of the box6/22/2023 ![]() ![]() On a creative path such as innovation, setting your box on fire cuts off your ability to pull back when things get scary. When Collins countered, “I thought options always have positive value,” Grousbeck cautioned, “No. When it gets really scary, you’re going to pull back. Otherwise, you’re going to hold something in reserve. You’re doing a low odds game, which means you have to put all in, 100 percent, full cannonball, go off that cliff. Grousbeck replied: “If you have the option to come back, it will change your behavior. He went to Irv Grousbeck, one of his mentors at the University, and asked him, “Do you think I should keep enough capital alive here at Stanford that if this doesn’t work out, I could come back?” Jim Collins, the renowned business researcher and author or coauthor of such iconic, bestselling books as Good to Great, recently recounted such a story on “ The Tim Ferriss Show.”Ĭollins was considering leaving his job at Stanford to go off on his own to research and write a new book. One sure-fire way to set your box on fire is to get rid of your backup plans. (Not to mention that you’ve also now destroyed the box.) The human survival instinct is extraordinarily powerful, and the “fight-or-flight” response will lead you out of the box. That way, you’re forced to make a choice: Get burned, or get out. And while that may sound all well and good, the question is, how do you get beyond the box, especially when it’s been reinforced, if not baked in, over time? The kind of creative thinking that leads to serious innovation requires approaching challenges without any boxes. That’s precisely the mindset you’ll need to solve difficult problems. (After all, he effectively hated your last idea.) Instead of letting his previous feedback stop you, recognize the artificial boundary condition that you’ve placed on yourself -and choose instead to go for it. ![]() So let’s say that you’ve got this crazy new idea, but you’re convinced that your boss won’t go for it. If left to your own devices, you almost certainly would have made a different choice-and happily colored all over the page. Chances are, one of the first things you were taught as a kid was to color inside the lines. And when you think about it, it started at an early age. You’ve also learned that there are risks, and often repercussions, for trying something totally new and different. You’ve been taught what is-and isn’t-possible. Whether you realize it or not, there are boxes all around you. Recognize boundary conditions are a choice To develop the best ideas, make a critical new assumption: There is no box. The car is an unintended box: The fastest way to get to Miami is to drive to the airport and get on a plane. And still others develop a plan to rotate drivers so they can limit stops and drive all night.Īll may be good ideas, but the starting point-the fact that they’re in a car-limits them by creating an assumption. Others take it a step further, weighing factors such as traffic, time of day and rest stops. What’s the fastest way to get there? Most people simply try to map out the most efficient route. While seemingly harmless, such an assumption is a dangerous boundary condition, creating a reference point that limits possibilities that you might otherwise take into account.Ĭonsider, for example, that three people are in a car going from New York City to Miami. The trouble with approaching any challenge with the mindset of “thinking outside the box” is the belief that there’s even a box to begin with. But that wasn’t the case they just assumed it to be so. For instance, in his study using the nine-dot puzzle, participants assumed that the dots on the paper represented a box within which they had to try and solve the problem. One of the observations from Guilford’s research is that people apply boundary conditions to their thinking that, while appearing quite real, don’t actually exist. Why? Because it creates an unintended, self-limiting mind trap that prevents people from seeing what might really be possible. Throughout the 1970s and well into the 1980s, the nine-dot puzzle (you can find a brief history here) and the phrase “think outside the box” became widely used metaphors, spreading, as Boyd says, “like wildfire” in business, psychology, the creative arts and countless other circles.Įven today, all these decades later, the metaphor is still considered a logical starting point for individuals and teams looking for new ideas. ![]()

Curt flood free agency pro athletes6/22/2023 ![]() It bound players to teams indefinitely, leaving them with no say in where or when they were traded and with no leverage to negotiate higher salaries. For players, the exemption manifested in the form of the reserve clause - a standard term in employment contracts that allowed teams to exert an extraordinary level of control. Indeed they have - but mostly unsuccessfully, at least at first. As the only option for athletes aspiring to the majors, Minor League Baseball players have little recourse to fight for higher wages. Because of the MLB's freedom from employment regulations, Minor League Baseball players are not classified as full-time employees and their wages often fall at or below the minimum wage. Since players in the minor leagues are employed by their team's major league parent, the exemption also extends to the MLB's control over baseball's farm system. Despite numerous legal challenges over the years, the ruling still stands. Baseball, even at the professional level, was recreation and entertainment. National League (1922), written by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., stated that neither baseball games nor the "personal effort" of players fell under the definition of commerce, and therefore, the business of baseball was not subject to the Sherman Antitrust Act. The court's decision in Federal Baseball Club of Baltimore v. The Baltimore Terrapins were the last holdout, fighting the NL all the way to the Supreme Court in what became the first of the "baseball trilogy" cases. Meanwhile, the American and National Leagues swooped in and bought out seven of the eight Federal League teams. The tactic backfired when Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis - who would later become commissioner of the MLB - held off on announcing his decision for months as the Federal League's coffers were depleted. ![]()
